Residents of Cranberry Portage

As the situation continues to unfold in Cranberry, here are the facts.

The North flank of town has been protected by heavy equipment & water bombers working throughout the day. The fire does not appear to have increased in size and we’re hoping the winds continue in our favour tonight. The Wildfire branch let us know that currently, no damage has been seen.

Mb Hydro has been given the all-clear to fly a helicopter for an aerial assessment of Cranberry Portage & Bakers Narrows as of 7:00pm tonight. We are set to be updated by Mb Hydro tomorrow morning & will forward information once available.

However, we are still in a state of emergency, and the evacuation order is in place.

RM Council is meeting tomorrow morning with the Provincial EMO & Manitoba Wildfire Services for their latest update. We hope to provide more detailed information late tomorrow morning.
